Located on the main road of Puncak, Bogor, Grand Diara Hotel provides 81 rooms and suites, 5 meeting rooms, and a restaurant with a breathtaking mountain view.

OBJECTIVE

The hotel management aims for efficiency and reduces cost from electricity consumption in the hotel rooms. They hope for a system which can accurately track and report the electricity usage of each room in real-time. The system should also be able to generate some reports or insights from such data.

APPROACH

We build a system, which consists of two parts: the IoT platform and the server, to collect electricity usage of each hotel room in real time. The IoT platform is built using NodeMCU and current sensor, while the server is developed using Java.

The data, collected from each sensor, is aggregated in the server where it shows live information regarding the electricity usage and, additionally, is able to generate reports for some specific time period.

IMPACT

Insights from the data help the stakeholders understand the customer’s patterns and behaviours, measure electricity efficiency, and make accurate operational decisions. In addition to that, keeping track of electricity usage can also prevent fraud in the hotel.
